Recent changes have taken place in the US marketplace with regard to USA messaging, and it is now requested that all existing SMS traffic, including mobile terminated (MT), alerts and notifications, etc., now be run over dedicated US shortcodes. Who does it affect? All clients sending messages to USA will be affected. This now means that all messaging aggregators will have to make the change, as it is not based on ClickSMS.info delivery, but on the requirement of the US operators. What exactly is different? All messages being sent to the USA will now need to have a registered Shortcode as the Sender ID. Therefore all clients wishing to send messages to the US will now need a unique shortcode and all messages to the US will then be sent with this Shortcode as the Sender ID. The added advantage is that clients receiving the messages will be able to reply to the message. ClickSMS.info can then send you the reply. Shortcodes can also be used for Premium Rated Messaging. This means that ClickSMS.info can now offer Premium Rate Messaging in the US with support for six (6) operators. What Types of Shortcodes are available? Only dedicated Shortcodes are available in the US. You may either choose to have a Shortcode number randomly assigned to you, or you may choose a specific Shortcode number if available. These are known as:
Your selected Shortcode can be used for Premium Rated Messaging and can be setup for any price band. When will this come into effect? Some of the aforementioned changes have already been implemented. As a temporary solution, ClickSMS.info currently routes all USA traffic (for clients who do not yet own their own Shortcode) on a registered and approved Shortcode, so messages will not get blocked. Messaging to the US is currently running perfectly, but we do foresee that in the near future there will be a strict control on all messaging. We propose that customers prepare themselves in advance and start to activate a dedicated Shortcode as soon as possible. How long does it take before i can use my Shortcode? From application to your service going live can take from 4-8 weeks. This is highly dependant on the information you about your service when applying. What do you need to do? ClickSMS.info has managed to secure routing and have now negotiated the ability to provide bi-directional shortcodes to the USA. Due to the high fees involved we took time to get these fees as low as possible. You can continue messaging as you currently do, but the disadvantage is that connectivity can be lost without any warning, and there will not be any alternative options available. We would therefore like to advise our customers that it would be more advantageous for them to immediately start the process in applying for a dedicated Shortcode through us. What will the costs be? ClickSMS.info charges a setup fee and a monthly rental fee. A small switching fee is charged for all inbound (MO) messages that you receive. Normal ClickSMS.info Prices are charged or outbound (MT) messaging. Please refer to the table below for rental and setup Fees.
